My bedroom

In Chinese culture, we had to have "Installing the Bridal Bed". We went to the "uncle" again last weekend to get the auspicious date. Typical Chinese, I must say, will choose an auspicious date for everything, from wedding to moving house. Some even choose for starting work after Chinese New Year. Coming back to this topic. If you are not familiar with Chinese custom, this the installation ceremony consister of merely moving the bde slightly. In keeping with Chinese tradition, the linens should be accented in red, the color of happiness. All this can be learn from here.

The bedroom I'll be using is a medium size room, perfect to fit a double bed, a two door cabinet and a lil space for study table. The main concern of the whole bedroom is on the color. What color is suitable for him, for me and most important......for good sleep. I made a research on that and found the website for Color Theraphy. It says that bedroom is the first and the last place that we see each day. It is also the place where we spend one third of our life, thus it should revitalise our spirit each time we wake up.

Cool Color

Cool colors such as blues, greens, and lavenders, are perfect for bedrooms. Psychologically, these colors are calming, evoking deep-seated feelings of peace and tranquility.

Warm Color

Although cool colors do tend to be the most satisfying choice for bedrooms, warm colors—when used properly—can also be used to create a peaceful, serene environment

Neutral Color Neutral colors are also an excellent choice for bedrooms. Neutrals are very soothing—quietly elegant, these subtle hues are calm and understated. Using neutral colors also offers a lot of flexibility for décor. Since neutrals go with everything, it's possible to make subtle changes—bedding, artwork, and window coverings, for example—to give the room a new, updated look, without having to repaint the entire room.

You can even create A Touch of Romance. It's the simple things...

Fabrics. Luxurious fabrics, rich with inviting textures, soft, sumptuous pillows, indulgent throws, down-filled comforters and luxurious, high thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets... not only are they romantic, they'll also offer you a heavenly night's rest! Tip: A simple, inexpensive swoop of fine white netting or tulle can create an intimate canopy effect that's easy to put up and take down, whenever you desire. Just fit a small cup hook in the ceiling and attach the netting with a drapery ring.

Lighting. Mood lighting is essential. Switch out that uninspired ceiling light for a shimmering chandelier—as well as providing wonderful illumination, it's also lots more fun to look at.

After learning all those, I decide to experiment the colors on my room. Found this cool website where you can try to mix and match the colors on a virtual room, be it living room, bedroom, dining room, even in toilet. My hubs loves yellow as it is his feng shui color. So here's what I did

Hubs say the brighter yellow should be put at the other side of the wall to make the room looks bigger. Maybe he's right. What do you think? This is only one of the choice for bedroom. If you have time, try it out for fun. It's FREE!
